Thomas H. Handy Sazerac 2018 is a raw, barrel-strength expression from the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, distilled at DSP-KY-113. Distilled in the spring of 2012, this spirit underwent a maturation period of 6 years and 4 months in new charred American white oak (#4 char). This vintage reached a potent 128.8 proof, a technical result of maturation on the 3rd and 6th floors of Warehouses I and L, where the barrels experienced a 25.5% evaporation loss.
The Handy series is technically defined by its vibrant energy and high-viscosity structural framework. Bottled uncut and unfiltered, the liquid delivers a dense concentration of grain spice and wood sugars, featuring signature notes of allspice, orange peel, and dark chocolate, underscored by a persistent herbal rye pepper characteristic of the distillery’s barrel-strength rye program.
