Penelope Rio 98–115 Proof (49–57.5% ABV) is a highly allocated, straight bourbon whiskey produced as a limited release within the specialized Cooper Series by Penelope Bourbon. This 2024 expression utilizes the brand's signature four-grain mash bill of 74% corn, 16% wheat, 7% rye, and 3% malted barley, representing a complex double-cask finishing process. Originally aged for four to six years in new charred American oak at the MGP Distillery in Indiana, the liquid underwent a secondary maturation in honey-touched barrels followed by a tertiary finish in Brazilian Amburana oak casks.
This evolutionary process yields a rich and complex profile of cinnamon rolls, gingerbread, and tropical vanilla, balanced by a deep undercurrent of toasted marshmallow and spice with a long, wood-driven finish.
