Old Forester 117 Series Rum Cask Finish (Batch 001) is a 95 Proof (47.5% ABV) straight bourbon produced at the Brown-Forman Shively Distillery (DSP-KY-354). This experimental release utilizes the standard 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley mash bill before undergoing a secondary maturation in barrels that previously held rich Caribbean rum.
The finishing period in these specialty casks enhances the base bourbon with layers of tropical fruit, molasses, and toasted coconut. This concentrated liquid was matured in heat-cycled warehouses to ensure a balanced integration of the spicy bourbon char and the sweet, funky rum influence.
