Fortaleza Still Strength Lote 20-S Agaves de la Villa is a Blanco Tequila from Destileria La Fortaleza in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico. This limited-release Still Strength Blanco was made exclusively from ripe Blue Weber agave grown on the Sauza family's Villa estate inside the town of Tequila, bottled straight off the still without a water cut at 92 proof, additive-free.
The "Agaves de la Villa" designation marks the specific provenance: every agave in Lote 20-S came from the Villa, the Sauza family's town-side estate, rather than the wider blend of hillside ranches that supplies the standard Still Strength. This tighter sourcing gives the lot a more focused expression of one single growing site. Production follows Fortaleza's traditional methods at NOM 1493: brick-oven slow cooking, tahona stone-wheel extraction, open-air wooden vat fermentation, and double distillation in small copper pot stills, with no water added before bottling.
On the nose, it shows baked ripe agave layered with wet stone minerality, bright citrus, and subtle herb. The palate brings concentrated cooked agave, a clear briny edge, dry pepper, and the signature Fortaleza mineral backbone, and the finish carries a long, oily, savory close.
The single-estate sourcing and still-strength bottling give this lot one of the clearest expressions of the Sauza family's home-grown agave in the entire Fortaleza catalog. It drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
