Fortaleza Añejo Tequila is an 80 Proof (40% ABV) additive-free spirit representing the highest tier of the core aged portfolio from Destilería La Fortaleza (NOM 1493). Produced in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, this expression honors over five generations of the Sauza family's heritage. The tequila is matured for a minimum of 18 months in used American oak barrels that have been re-chipped and re-charred to introduce deep, complex textures.
Using ancestral methods, the estate-grown agave is slow-cooked in stone ovens, tahona-crushed, and fermented in open-air wooden vats. Double-distilled in small copper pot stills, the resulting profile balances sweet roasted agave with complex layers of butterscotch, toasted vanilla, and dried fruit. This 750ml limited allocation is a primary target for collectors seeking the pinnacle of traditional "old-world" maturation.
