Clase Azul Master Artisans Angel Santos is the inaugural release of the Clase Azul Master Artisans collection - the program through which Clase Azul Tequila collaborates with Mexico's most celebrated craftspeople. The Angel Santos edition is hand-painted in collaboration with Tonala-based master ceramicist Angel Santos, an internationally awarded artisan whose work has earned more than 25 awards in Mexico alone. Inside is a 64-month (over 5 year) Extra Anejo tequila by Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco; bottled at 80 proof / 40% ABV with a 100% organic Highland Blue Weber agave mash. Production is limited to just 300 decanters worldwide.

Clase Azul Tequila is produced at Productos Finos de Agave (NOM 1416) in Jesus Maria, Los Altos de Jalisco - the Highland tequila region. Founded by Arturo Lomeli in 1997, Clase Azul is one of the most recognizable artisan tequila brands in the world, known as much for what's inside the bottle as for the bottle itself: each iconic hand-painted ceramic Clase Azul decanter is shaped, fired, and painted by hand by more than 100 artisans in the village of Santa Maria Canchesda, Mexico.

The Angel Santos decanter is painted by hand over a 10-to-12-hour process per bottle. The illustrations draw on long-plumed pheasant imagery - cross-cultural symbols of light, prosperity, the sun, and wealth - rendered in the deep blue that represents sky, air, and water. Five- and six-petaled flowers from the Tonala clay tradition - Tonala is the small Jalisco town widely considered the cradle of Mexican ceramics - thread through the body of the bottle.

The Extra Anejo inside is the most pedigreed in the Master Artisans series: the spirit was rested 64 months in American whiskey casks before being split across Amontillado, Oloroso, and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. On the nose, it shows deep cooked agave with caramel, vanilla, and dried fruit. The palate brings rich agave layered with chocolate, dried fig, baking spice, and sherry-cask sweetness, and the finish carries a long, complex close.
