Clase Azul Ahumado - officially Clase Azul Blanco Ahumado - is the limited 2025 smoked-blanco release from Clase Azul Tequila. Unlike the brick-oven cooked core lineup, Clase Azul Ahumado borrows mezcal's underground pit-oven method and applies it to Highland Blue Weber agave: the piñas are cooked in a pit oven lined with firewood and volcanic stones, giving the otherwise crystal-clear Blanco a layer of smoke that no other Clase Azul tequila carries. Bottled at 90 proof / 45% ABV with a 100% organic Highland Blue Weber agave mash.

Clase Azul Tequila is produced at Productos Finos de Agave (NOM 1416) in Jesus Maria, Los Altos de Jalisco - the Highland tequila region. Founded by Arturo Lomeli in 1997, Clase Azul is one of the most recognizable artisan tequila brands in the world, known as much for what's inside the bottle as for the bottle itself: each iconic hand-painted ceramic Clase Azul decanter is shaped, fired, and painted by hand by more than 100 artisans in the village of Santa Maria Canchesda, Mexico, and finished with platinum, silver, and 24-karat gold detail on the higher-end expressions.

Production is 100% organic Blue Weber agave - typically 9 to 10 years old at harvest - slow-cooked roughly 72 hours in traditional masonry brick ovens, fermented with the house's proprietary yeast, then double-distilled in copper alembic stills.

Where the Plata is the brand's clean, unsmoked Highland Blanco, Clase Azul Ahumado is the deliberate opposite: same agave, same Productos Finos de Agave distillery (NOM 1416), but the agave is pit-oven cooked rather than brick-oven cooked - the technique borrowed from traditional mezcal production. After cooking, the agave is shredded, fermented with Clase Azul's proprietary yeast (developed from wild yeast strains in the brand's own agave fields), then double-distilled in copper pot stills. The Clase Azul Ahumado decanter is shaped and painted by hand with darker earth-toned detail that reads volcanic-stone heritage.

On the nose, it shows smoked agave layered with fresh plum, red apple, and a touch of volcanic minerality. The palate brings bold smoked agave with zesty fresh lemon over a mineral-driven core, and the finish carries a silky close with lingering smoky undertones.
