Chartreuse V.E.P. Verte is a 108 proof (54% ABV) ultra-premium limited allocation produced by the Carthusian Monks at the Aiguenoire distillery in France. V.E.P. (Vieillissement Exceptionnellement Prolongé) signifies an exceptionally long maturation period in oak casks, extending for at least eight years beyond the standard bottling age.
Utilizing the secret 1605 manuscript of 130 mountain herbs and botanicals, the spirit is macerated in neutral alcohol and matured in large oak tuns before being finished in smaller demi-muid barrels. The result is a profoundly complex profile of peppermint, anise, and pine resin, balanced by a sophisticated oak integration and a silky, warming texture that remains the benchmark for herbal liqueurs worldwide.
