WhistlePig The Boss Hog II - The Spirit of Mortimer is a Straight Rye Whiskey from WhistlePig Farm Distillery in Shoreham, Vermont. This 2014 release is sourced from Alberta Distillers in Canada, aged a minimum of 13 years, single-barrel selected at WhistlePig Farm and bottled at cask strength (range approximately 117-124 proof by barrel), with a 100% rye mash bill. Production was capped at 62 single barrels.

The Boss Hog is WhistlePig's annual experimental release - the distillery's outlet for its rarest, most extreme single-barrel rye each year. Every release follows what WhistlePig calls its promises (later expanded to its "X Commandments"): single barrel, bottled at proof, distinctly different from anything else in the lineup, fearlessly first, and irreverently inventive. Toppers are hand-cast in Danforth pewter, and each year's release has its own theme - sometimes tribute to a pig in the WhistlePig family, sometimes a historical figure, sometimes a region or tradition the team traveled to study.

The Spirit of Mortimer honors Mortimer, the Kune Kune pig who was WhistlePig's mascot and namesake until his passing. The release introduced the now-iconic winged-piglet pewter topper - cast in pewter and sitting atop every bottle - that has become a defining visual element of the Boss Hog program. The label itself is marked not with a name but with a large stylized "M."

On the nose, it shows mature Canadian rye with mint, citrus, and toffee. The palate brings deep rye spice, dried fruit, vanilla, and oak from the extra year over Edition I, and the finish carries a long, peppery, warming close.
