Before the Civil War, distilleries were not required to register with the federal government. But in 1866, Congress passed legislation that required registration. Mr. Jack, being the forward-thinking man he was, made sure he was first in line, and that's why the Jack Daniel Distillery is still listed in the federal record books as Distillery No. 1, This 1L decanter, released in 1990, celebrates the 125th Anniversary of Americas Oldest Registered Distillery and pays tribute to its founder.
