Stagg Jr Batch 2 is a 128.7 Proof (64.35% ABV) small batch bourbon produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery. Released in early 2014 as the second entry in the series, this spirit was matured for approximately eight to nine years within the mid-to-lower floors of the historic warehouses in Frankfort. Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley utilized the distillery's celebrated Mash Bill #1, a low-rye grain recipe matured in new charred American oak barrels.
The technical profile is defined by its uncut and non-chill filtered presentation, which preserves the high concentration of barrel sugars and phenolic compounds developed during maturation. The structural framework is notably dense and spicy, featuring a nose of vanilla bean and toasted oak, with a palate dominated by intense cinnamon, dark fruit leather, and a robust, warming finish characterized by cracked black pepper and cloves.
