Jack Daniel's Distillery Series Selection No. 009 High Toast Oak Barrel Finish Straight Tennessee Rye is an innovative, limited-edition experimental allocation released in July 2022. Selected by Master Taster Lexie Phillips, this release dropped alongside Selection No. 008, cementing the line’s permanent transition in nomenclature from "Tennessee Tasters" to the Distillery Series. The liquid was originally barreled in the summer of 2014, undergoing primary maturation in standard charred white oak for over five years before being transferred in October 2019 into proprietary high-toast, no-char oak finishing barrels.
This secondary wood interaction lasted for nearly three years, letting the uncharred oak vanillins heavily infuse the mature grain. Bottled at 101 proof, the technical profile is defined by an oily, full-bodied mouthfeel that balances classic Jack Daniel's banana flambé notes with the intense caramel, toasted cinnamon bread, and dark date sweetness extracted from the high-toast wood
