Jack Daniel's Distillery Series Selection No. 14 High Toast Maple Barrel Finish #2 Straight Tennessee Rye is a highly limited experimental allocation released in December 2024. Selected by Whiskey Taster Clint Bailey, this release builds directly upon the groundwork of the 2022 Selection No. 008, taking a portion of that original 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley lot and extending its secondary wood contact for an additional 20 months. In total, the fully matured, charcoal-mellowed rye rested for three years inside high-toast, uncharred maple barrels situated atop Tanyard Hill.
This lengthy finishing phase allowed the uncharred maple wood sugars to completely integrate into the spirit, softening the grain's aggressive, peppery kick. Unlike its sweeter 2022 predecessor, this edition was bumped to 107 proof, presenting a robust, medium-thick structural framework that balances dry aromas of tobacco and clove with layered palate notes of dried cherries, dark chocolate, and brown sugar.
