High West A Midwinter Night's Dram The Encore Act 1 101.6 Proof (50.8% ABV) is a technical limited-edition release from High West Distillery in Park City, UT. This expression builds upon the Rendezvous Rye blend, utilizing MGP (95% rye) and High West (80% rye) mash bills, matured in new charred American oak before undergoing a secondary finishing period. Unlike the standard Midwinter release, The Encore is uniquely finished in rare White Port casks, specifically selected to introduce botanical complexity and stone fruit top notes.
Maturation occurs in the high-altitude climate of the Wasatch Mountains, which accelerates the interaction between the rye’s inherent structural spice and the fruit residuals of the barrels. The resulting chemical profile is defined by vibrant notes of yellow stone fruit, marzipan, and Earl Grey tea, which integrate with deep layers of candied ginger and holiday spice. The non-chill filtered presentation maintains a lush, oily mouthfeel with a lingering herbal finish.
