Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch 13 (A117) 12 Year is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon from Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. This 2017 release opens the line's fifth year and is the first Elijah Craig Barrel Proof bottling to appear in Heaven Hill's redesigned packaging - the transition batch that ended the original pirate-bottle era. The batch is bottled uncut and non chill-filtered at 127.0 proof.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is Heaven Hill's flagship cask-strength bourbon - an uncut, non-chill-filtered small-batch release built on the standard Elijah Craig mash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley. Then-Master Distiller Parker Beam launched the line in 2013 to bridge stocks of Elijah Craig 18 Year and 23 Year as they continued to age. The series is released three times per year - typically January, May, and September - with each release carrying its own unique proof drawn from a small selection of barrels.

Heaven Hill's published line profile across the series shows deep-amber color, a nose of caramel with toasted oak and notes of apple and orange, a palate of rich vanilla, caramel, and butterscotch with black pepper and cinnamon spice at the back, and a layered finish that fades slowly and lingers as it cools. Whisky Advocate's Jeffery Lindenmuth has described the line as "a mouth-filling, deeply satisfying whiskey, amazingly palatable even at full proof."

This batch is the first Elijah Craig Barrel Proof bottling to use the redesigned form factor introduced in January 2017, replacing the original tall, slope-shouldered bottle - the so-called "pirate bottle" - that Heaven Hill used for Batches 1 through 12. Batch 13 marks the line's packaging transition and the start of the modern bottle era. It drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
