Angel’s Envy 2022 Cask Strength is a 119.8 Proof (59.9% ABV) limited-edition Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, representing the 11th annual release of this highly sought-after series. This technical expression is crafted from a mash bill of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. The maturation process utilizes an initial aging period in new charred American white oak, followed by a strategic secondary finishing period in 60-gallon Ruby Port wine casks. These finishing barrels are hand-selected from the Douro Valley in Portugal and integrated into the Louisville rickhouses to maximize wood-to-spirit interaction.
Produced at the Angel’s Envy Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, this 2022 release was limited to a total allocation of 16,980 bottles. The technical presentation includes the iconic etched glass bottle with metallic ink detailing, housed in a bespoke, magnetic-closure wooden display case. The secondary maturation in Port staves at a high proof allows for the extraction of intense vinous esters and wood sugars, which are preserved through a non-chill filtered bottling process to maintain the spirit's natural viscosity and chemical complexity.
