The Stewards Release is the third installment of the second Wood Finishing Series, named to honor the stewards who guide Maker's Mark through production. Like its siblings in the program, it finishes fully matured wheated bourbon with a set of custom virgin oak staves designed to develop a distinct wood-driven character while preserving the brand's signature soft, approachable profile. The series grew out of the distillery's long study of how oak shapes flavor.
On the nose, it shows vanilla, toasted oak and warm baking spice. The palate brings caramel, soft wheat sweetness and oak spice, and the finish carries a long, gently warming, oak-led fade.
As the latest chapter of the Wood Finishing Series, The Stewards Release is a limited, allocation-driven bottling that Maker's Mark collectors seek out to keep the series complete. Each annual entry is produced in small quantity and is rarely available again once it sells through, adding to its appeal among followers of the program.
