Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Chinquapin Oak Wheated Bourbon is a highly allocated, 105 Proof (52.5% ABV) limited-edition straight bourbon released in October 2025 as a centerpiece of the Specialty Barrel Series. This technical expression is aged for seven years and serves as an exploration of rare cooperage. Unlike the standard releases matured in white oak, this spirit was fully matured in Chinquapin oak barrels (Quercus muehlenbergii), a species native to the limestone-rich soils of Central North America known for its high vanillin content and dense grain structure.
Produced at the Heaven Hill Distillery, this release features a 2018 vintage of Beck’s 6225 corn, identity-preserved and grown by Peterson Farms in Nelson County. The wheated mash bill consists of 52% corn, 35% wheat, and 13% malted barley. Matured in Cox’s Creek Rickhouse W5, the Chinquapin oak imparts a chemical profile defined by deep confectionery notes and refined wood tannins. The technical presentation includes a 700ml bottle of non-chill filtered liquid, yielding a rich mouthfeel with notes of butterscotch, berry compote, and toasted cinnamon.
