The spirit is distilled from a mash bill of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. Primary maturation occurs in new charred American white oak before the liquid undergoes a secondary finish in 60-gallon Ruby Port wine casks. This specific 2013 batch was selected from the highest-quality barrels in the rickhouse to ensure a structural profile capable of supporting the elevated ethanol concentration.
Produced at the Angel’s Envy Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, this 2013 release was limited to a total allocation of just 2,500 bottles. The technical presentation features the iconic winged glass bottle housed in a handcrafted, commemorative wooden display box. Bottled without chill-filtration, this expression preserves the dense concentration of dark fruit esters and wood-derived tannins extracted during the secondary maturation in Portuguese wine staves.
