1956 Old Fitzgerald Very Xtra Old 10 Year Old Straight Bourbon Whiskey 4/5 Quart is bottled at 100 Proof by the Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Shively, Kentucky. Distilled in Spring 1956 under Julian "Pappy" Van Winkle and bottled in Fall 1966 by Julian Van Winkle II, this expression utilizes the legendary wheated mash bill of roughly 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley. Maturation occurred over a full decade inside new fire-charred American oak barrels within multi-story wooden rickhouses.
This historic bottle comes accompanied by its original green display box and two matching distillery glasses, preserving an intact mid-century presentation set. The prolonged decade of undisturbed wood interaction yields an incredibly oily mouthfeel packed with dark butterscotch, old leather, soft baking spices, and a sweet, dense tobacco finish.
