Fortaleza Añejo Lot 42-A is an 80 Proof (40% ABV) additive-free spirit and arguably the most famous "distillery error" in modern tequila history. Produced at Destilería La Fortaleza (NOM 1493), this release is a "shadow" Extra Añejo; it is widely confirmed to be a blend containing a high proportion of 48-month-old Extra Añejo that was mistakenly bottled under the Añejo label.
This extended maturation has produced a sophisticated and high-viscosity profile characterized by caramelized agave, dark chocolate, and toasted nuts, balanced by the signature mineral notes of the Tequila Valley. The sensory experience is notably deeper and more wood-forward than standard lots, featuring unique hints of maple and cooked fruit. This 750ml legacy allocation remains a primary acquisition for elite collectors tracking the specific anomalies of the Sauza family heritage.
