Cascahuin Mission 1530 Single Barrel is an Anejo Tequila from Tequila Cascahuin in El Arenal, Jalisco, Mexico. This limited release was aged for two years in a single wet cognac barrel shipped from France to the distillery, bottled at 84 proof, additive-free.
The Mission 1530 release is tied to the Tequila Interchange Project (TIP), with all proceeds from the bottling going to support the nonprofit's work on agave sustainability, education, and the protection of traditional Mexican spirits. The single-barrel format keeps every bottle drawn from one cognac cask - the wet, ex-spirit French oak still carrying residual cognac character when the Anejo was racked in.
On the nose, it shows cooked agave layered with stone fruit, vanilla, and gentle French oak. The palate brings caramel, dried fruit, toasted oak, and a brandy-like richness from the wet cognac cask, and the finish carries a long, soft oak close with lingering agave sweetness.
The wet cognac barrel finish gives a noticeably different profile from Cascahuin's American oak-aged Anejos - more stone fruit and brandy character versus the bourbon-cask vanilla. It drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
