Clase Azul San Luis Potosi is the desert-state mezcal in the Clase Azul Mezcal lineup - made from 100% Agave Salmiana grown on the semi-desert plains and slopes of San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Bottled at 86 proof / 43% ABV, additive-free, with a production protocol that draws on the region's high-elevation desert climate and the unique fermentation tradition of agua miel.

Clase Azul Tequila is produced at Productos Finos de Agave (NOM 1416) in Jesus Maria, Los Altos de Jalisco - the Highland tequila region. Founded by Arturo Lomeli in 1997, Clase Azul is one of the most recognizable artisan tequila brands in the world, known as much for what's inside the bottle as for the bottle itself: each iconic hand-painted ceramic Clase Azul decanter is shaped, fired, and painted by hand by more than 100 artisans in the village of Santa Maria Canchesda, Mexico, and finished with platinum, silver, and 24-karat gold detail on the higher-end expressions.

Production is 100% organic Blue Weber agave - typically 9 to 10 years old at harvest - slow-cooked roughly 72 hours in traditional masonry brick ovens, fermented with the house's proprietary yeast, then double-distilled in copper alembic stills.

Clase Azul San Luis Potosi is produced by mezcaleros in the Estacion Ipina region near the Zacatecas border. The Agave Salmiana is matured 8-12 years on the semi-desert hillsides, then slow-cooked in traditional domed masonry ovens, crushed with a Chilean stone mill, and fermented with agua miel - the sweet aguamiel sap the agave produces in its rosette before harvest, collected and used to start the fermentation. The mezcal is then double-distilled in copper stills and the cuts are blended for balance. Each ceramic Clase Azul San Luis Potosi decanter takes more than three hours of detailed hand-painting per bottle.

On the nose, it shows roasted agave layered with desert herbs, cooked sweet potato, and a soft mineral note. The palate brings rich agave, baked vegetal sweetness, gentle smoke, and a touch of caramel from the long-cooked Salmiana, and the finish carries a long, savory close with lingering earth and pepper.
