Clase Azul Guerrero is the Guerrero-state mezcal in the Clase Azul Mezcal lineup - made from 100% wild Agave Papalote (Agave cupreata) harvested in the humid mountain ranges of Guerrero, Mexico. Bottled at 80 proof / 40% ABV, additive-free, with the rustic, pit-oven character that distinguishes traditional artisanal mezcal from tequila.

Clase Azul Tequila is produced at Productos Finos de Agave (NOM 1416) in Jesus Maria, Los Altos de Jalisco - the Highland tequila region. Founded by Arturo Lomeli in 1997, Clase Azul is one of the most recognizable artisan tequila brands in the world, known as much for what's inside the bottle as for the bottle itself: each iconic hand-painted ceramic Clase Azul decanter is shaped, fired, and painted by hand by more than 100 artisans in the village of Santa Maria Canchesda, Mexico, and finished with platinum, silver, and 24-karat gold detail on the higher-end expressions.

Production is 100% organic Blue Weber agave - typically 9 to 10 years old at harvest - slow-cooked roughly 72 hours in traditional masonry brick ovens, fermented with the house's proprietary yeast, then double-distilled in copper alembic stills.

Where Clase Azul's Highland tequilas are slow-cooked in brick ovens, Clase Azul Guerrero is produced in the traditional Guerrero method: wild Papalote agave cooked 3-4 days in an underground pit oven over volcanic rock, fired with firewood from the Guamuchil tree, then double-distilled in a copper alembic still. The Papalote agave - which grows only in the mountain ranges of Guerrero - is harvested only at full maturity, often 10+ years from planting.

The Clase Azul Guerrero decanter is hand-shaped and painted in earth tones that honor the volcanic-rock pit-oven heritage of the region. On the nose, it shows grapefruit peel, fresh wood, rosemary, and peanut oil with a touch of butter and wildflowers. The palate brings fresh wood, light seaweed minerality, lemon juice, pepper, and gentle tobacco, and the finish carries a long, dry-savory close.
