Clase Azul Gold is the limited-release Joven blend from Clase Azul Tequila - a marriage of three Clase Azul expressions in a single hand-painted gold ceramic decanter: Clase Azul Plata (unaged), Clase Azul Reposado finished in French oak, and an exceptional 8-year Extra Anejo finished in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. Bottled at 80 proof / 40% ABV with a 100% organic Highland Blue Weber agave mash.
Clase Azul Tequila is produced at Productos Finos de Agave (NOM 1416) in Jesus Maria, Los Altos de Jalisco - the Highland tequila region. Founded by Arturo Lomeli in 1997, Clase Azul is one of the most recognizable artisan tequila brands in the world, known as much for what's inside the bottle as for the bottle itself: each iconic hand-painted ceramic Clase Azul decanter is shaped, fired, and painted by hand by more than 100 artisans in the village of Santa Maria Canchesda, Mexico, and finished with platinum, silver, and 24-karat gold detail on the higher-end expressions.
Production is 100% organic Blue Weber agave - typically 9 to 10 years old at harvest - slow-cooked roughly 72 hours in traditional masonry brick ovens, fermented with the house's proprietary yeast, then double-distilled in copper alembic stills.
Clase Azul Gold sits in the brand's lineup as a showcase Joven: blending the bright agave clarity of the Plata, the oak roundness of the Reposado, and the deep sherry-cask sweetness of the long-aged Extra Anejo. The hand-painted gold ceramic Clase Azul Gold decanter - finished with platinum, silver, and 24-karat gold accents - is one of the most distinctive bottle designs in the brand's lineup.
On the nose, it shows bright cooked agave layered with vanilla, dried fruit, and gentle sherry-cask sweetness. The palate brings smooth agave wrapped in caramel, dark dried fruit, and oak from the French oak Reposado component, and the finish carries a long, complex close with lingering Pedro Ximenez character.
