Clase Azul Master Artisans Cobalto is one of three sister releases in the Clase Azul Master Artisans Extra Anejo trio (Canela, Guirnalda, and Cobalto). The Cobalto edition - cobalto is Spanish for "cobalt," the brand's signature color - houses an 8+ year Extra Anejo tequila in a hand-painted ceramic decanter built around the Clase Azul blue palette: blue and white tones applied through a paint-thinning technique that produces depth and contrast across the surface, paired with an inlaid nickel-silver plate engraved with a geometric pattern that plays with the illusion of perspective. Bottled at 80 proof / 40% ABV with a 100% organic Highland Blue Weber agave mash.

Clase Azul Tequila is produced at Productos Finos de Agave (NOM 1416) in Jesus Maria, Los Altos de Jalisco - the Highland tequila region. Founded by Arturo Lomeli in 1997, Clase Azul is one of the most recognizable artisan tequila brands in the world, known as much for what's inside the bottle as for the bottle itself: each iconic hand-painted ceramic Clase Azul decanter is shaped, fired, and painted by hand by more than 100 artisans in the village of Santa Maria Canchesda, Mexico.

The Clase Azul Master Artisans collection is the brand's collaboration program with Mexico's most celebrated craftspeople. Each Master Artisans release pairs a uniquely designed hand-painted ceramic decanter - the work of a guest master artisan or a specific Mexican craft tradition - with an ultra-aged Extra Anejo tequila developed by Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco. The Extra Anejo at the center of the series is aged more than 8 years total: first in American whiskey casks, then split through three sherry casks (Amontillado, Oloroso, and Pedro Ximenez), and finished in wine casks from the Portuguese island of Madeira.

The Cobalto decanter is the Master Artisans release that points most directly at the Clase Azul brand identity. Where Canela leans toward Jalisco pottery and Guirnalda toward watercolor florals, Cobalto is a deliberate refinement of the cobalt-and-white palette that defines Clase Azul Tequila itself.

On the nose, it shows deeply cooked agave layered with sweet agave, dark chocolate, dried fruit, and a hint of vanilla. The palate brings rich agave wrapped in caramel, chocolate, dried fig, and a touch of Madeira-cask oak, and the finish carries a long, refined close with lingering sherry-cask sweetness.
