Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is the estate's acclaimed second wine, made from younger vines and parcels of the same prized Bolgheri terroir as the grand vin. Typically Merlot-led and softer and more approachable than Ornellaia itself, the 2003 - from a warm, ripe vintage and now fully mature - shows generous plum and black cherry alongside cocoa, sweet spice and a savory, earthy edge, with supple tannins and a gracious finish. In 1.5L magnum, it is a wonderful, generous introduction to the Ornellaia style.
