Midleton Very Rare 1998 is a 80 Proof (40% ABV) vintage expression produced at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork. This release is a technical marriage of triple-distilled single pot still and single grain whiskeys aged for a minimum of 12 years. The components were matured in hand-selected, first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels, which impart significant vanillin and toasted wood sugars to the spirit.
The chemical profile is defined by a dense, honeyed texture with dominant top notes of baked pineapple and beeswax, evolving into mid-palate layers of ginger spice and toasted almonds. The finish is persistent, characterized by a dry oak tannin and a resurgence of sweet pot still oils.
