The 1974 A.H. Hirsch Reserve 16-Year-Old Straight Bourbon Whiskey Humidor Set is a legendary "unicorn" bourbon distilled at the historic Michter's Distillery in Pennsylvania. This rare release is packaged in a luxurious commemorative humidor with a certificate of authenticity and, in some editions, a cigar.
Product Specifications:
- Distillation Date: Distilled in the Spring of 1974 at the original Michter’s Distillery in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania.
- Aging & Bottling: Aged for 16 years in oak casks; much of the stock was later moved to steel tanks to stop the aging process before final bottling.
- Proof: 91.6 Proof (45.8% ABV).
- Mash Bill: 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley.
- Rarity: This specific Humidor Release was limited to 1,000 sets.
Reviewers and retailers describe this bourbon as having extraordinary depth and complexity.
- Nose: Polished oak, dark red fruit, caramel, and vanilla.
- Palate: Luxurious and velvety mouthfeel with notes of griddled corn, butterscotch, dark chocolate, and undertones of leather and tobacco.
- Finish: Long, warm, and smooth with lingering sweet spice and oak.
Often referred to as "the best bourbon you'll never taste" (a title taken from Charles K. Cowdery's book on the subject), this set is highly sought after by serious collectors. While the whiskey itself is the primary value driver, the humidor packaging represents the final release of this historic distillate.

Bottle # 149 of 1000 Hand Blown bottles
The final release of the original A.H. Hirsch distillate was packaged in hand blown bottles and bundled with a humidor case. Only 1000 of these packages were made; the whiskey was distilled in Spring of 1974 and tanked, then bottled in 2009.
