William Larue Weller 2009 is a 134.8 Proof barrel-strength wheated bourbon distilled at the Buffalo Trace Distillery (DSP-KY-113). Distilled in the fall of 1998, this spirit underwent a maturation period of 11 years in new charred American white oak barrels (#4 char) before its release in the 2009 Antique Collection. This vintage is technically distinguished by its placement on the 5th floor of Warehouses N and O, where the elevated microclimate facilitated a technical evaporation loss of 57.2%, concentrating the liquid's wood sugars and esters.
Comprised of just 41 hand-picked barrels, this release had a limited outturn of approximately 4,694 bottles. Bottled uncut and unfiltered, the technical profile is defined by a dense, high-viscosity structural framework, delivering potent notes of caramel corn, new leather, and plums, underscored by a velvety palate of marshmallow and salted almonds.
