Fortaleza K&L Exclusive Single Barrel is a Reposado Tequila from Destileria La Fortaleza in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico. This single-barrel selection was hand-picked exclusively for K&L Wine Merchants and aged approximately eight months in a single used American oak barrel before being bottled at 94.8 proof, additive-free.

K&L Wine Merchants, the long-established California fine-spirits retailer, was selected for one of the very first Fortaleza single-barrel programs the distillery ever ran. The two best-known K&L picks were Barrel #0397 (filled October 28 2020, emptied June 15 2021, bottled June 28 2021 at 47.4 percent ABV) and Barrel #613. Each barrel is drawn from one single used American oak cask, preserving the specific character of that barrel rather than the blended consistency of the core Reposado. Production follows Fortaleza's traditional methods at NOM 1493: 100 percent estate Blue Weber agave, brick-oven slow cooking, tahona stone-wheel extraction, open-air wooden vat fermentation, and double distillation in small copper pot stills.

On the nose, it shows roasted agave layered with sweet vanilla, caramel, and gentle oak. The palate brings a velvety mouthfeel with honey, dried fruit, baking spice, and integrated oak from the single barrel, and the finish carries a long, balanced close.

The single-barrel format keeps the character of one specific cask intact rather than blending it back into the standard Reposado run. It drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
