Tequila Ocho Extra Anejo is an Extra Anejo Tequila from Tequilera Los Alambiques in Arandas, Jalisco Highlands, Mexico. This expression is aged a minimum of three years in ex-American whiskey barrels and bottled at 80 proof, additive-free, with the single estate ("rancho") and harvest year identified on the label.

Tequila Ocho was founded by Carlos Camarena - third-generation tequilero at the Camarena family's Tequilera Los Alambiques in Arandas, Jalisco Highlands (NOM 1474) - in collaboration with the late British spirits writer Tomas Estes. Ocho was the first tequila to label both the year of production and the specific single estate ("rancho") where the agave was grown, treating tequila as a terroir-driven, single-vineyard-style spirit. Production follows traditional methods: 100 percent fully-mature Blue Weber agave from a single named rancho, brick-oven slow cooking, roller mill extraction, open-air fermentation, and double distillation in small copper pot stills - all additive-free.

On the nose, it shows dark chocolate, dried cherry, salted caramel, and tobacco. The palate brings toffee, baking spice, dried fruit, and integrated American oak, with the Highland agave still reading clearly through three years of barrel time, and the finish carries a long, balanced close.

By holding every variable except wood and time constant against the Plata and Reposado, Extra Anejo lets drinkers track exactly what three years in ex-bourbon American oak adds to the same single-estate distillate. It drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
