Cascahuin Alcalde is an Extra Anejo Tequila from Tequila Cascahuin in El Arenal, Jalisco, Mexico. This limited 375ml release is aged a total of eight years - four years in 60-plus-year-old wooden tanks at the distillery, followed by 48 months in American oak barrels - then bottled at 86 proof, additive-free.

Alcalde extends Cascahuin's house Extra Anejo program with a longer maturation window across two different wood vessels. The four-year primary rest takes place in the distillery's century-old wooden holding tanks, slowly integrating the spirit before it transfers into American oak for the second four-year stretch - effectively double the standard Extra Anejo timeline. The format is also distinctive: a 375ml bottle rather than the 750ml of the core line.

On the nose, it shows cooked ripe agave layered with honey, ripe pineapple, menthol, and Darjeeling tea. The palate brings sweet agave, dried fruit, vanilla, and integrated oak, and the finish carries a long close of freshly ground coffee, bitter chocolate, dark berries, and orange peel.

The two-stage aging across very old wood tanks and American oak barrels gives Alcalde a deeper, more layered profile than typical Extra Anejos that rest exclusively in barrel. It drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
