Spinus spinus is a milestone in the progressing Chinese wine industry.

The Origin

The wine originates from a single vineyard by the Huanlong Lake in the internationally recognized icewine appellation Huanren, Liaoning. The vineyard is south-facing with 20-30 degrees of slope, surrounded by the lake with ample sunlight. The upper soil layer is predominantly composed of brown loam and gravel with a moderate organic content, while the lower layer consists mainly of sedimentary rocks. This grants the parcel excellent aeration, water retention, and drainage. The macro and micro aspects of climate and geography result in fewer disease and pest problems than those found in other wine appellations of China. The long, cool, and dry autumn allows the Vidal Blanc grape here to reach perfect polyphenolic maturation and exquisite acidity. The consistently cold and humid winters have made seven of the past ten years successful icewine vintages, and in the foreseeable future, under the influence of global climate change, Huanren could potentially be the only icewine appellation in the world that consistently delivers naturally frozen icewines.

The Wine

N Wine Group barrel-selects multiple vintages of this single vineyard’s reserve wines and blends them into Spinus spinus Huanren Icewine MV. It has a grand structure, great concentration, and elegant expression of body that are unprecedented in the history of Chinese wine. Over the past two years, Spinus spinus has rapidly become one of the most sought-after wines in the Chinese wine market, attracting attention and garnering praise from Michelin-starred restaurants and high-end wine collectors. Spinus spinus, as the name suggests, carries the hope of the producer that, as an auspicious bird, it brings new life to this previously hidden appellation. Now the bird flops its wings, coming to the States to spread the message of good blessings, and of course, good tastes.
