Spinus spinus was the exact reason for Cana Wine to relaunch our import business, simply because it is unprecedented and impeccable in every aspect. 

Produced in Huanren, Liaoning, China, Spinus spinus is a cult wine project led by Nuo Chen, a Purdue University graduate who majored in Physics, Japanese Literature, and Winemaking. Being a prominent collector and connoisseur, he acquired an extremely critical palate towards the ones he drinks and the ones he makes. Learning from the best wines in the world, his winemaking philosophy and practices uncompromisingly stand on the shoulders of giants, pushing the boundaries of the best that could possibly be.

As of today, Huanren takes up more than 40% of the world’s icewine production volume. It is also one of the only four wine appellations that has been officially recognized by the European Union in 2020. Despite the gigantic volume and considerable international recognition, this region had remained unknown to the North American market. 

Feel free to drink it side-by-side with the best vintages of Chateau d’Yquem, Royal Tokaji Essencia, or Egon Muller Auslese Goldkapsel. We tried that ourselves and found that Spinus spinus performed significantly more than merely standing its ground.
