Clase Azul MGM Resorts is the brand's exclusive Las Vegas collaboration release - a Joven blend created in partnership with MGM Resorts and originally available only at the company's Las Vegas Strip properties (Bellagio, ARIA, MGM Grand, and selected sister hotels). Bottled at 80 proof / 40% ABV with a 100% organic Highland Blue Weber agave mash, the Clase Azul MGM Resorts release blends 20% Clase Azul Plata, 50% Clase Azul Reposado (8 months in American oak), and 10% Clase Azul Ultra (5 years in Spanish sherry casks), with the remaining portion drawn from the brand's reserve stock.
Clase Azul Tequila is produced at Productos Finos de Agave (NOM 1416) in Jesus Maria, Los Altos de Jalisco - the Highland tequila region. Founded by Arturo Lomeli in 1997, Clase Azul is one of the most recognizable artisan tequila brands in the world, known as much for what's inside the bottle as for the bottle itself: each iconic hand-painted ceramic Clase Azul decanter is shaped, fired, and painted by hand by more than 100 artisans in the village of Santa Maria Canchesda, Mexico.
The MGM Resorts decanter is a hand-painted ceramic Clase Azul bottle in white and gold, finished with 24-karat gold trim, a gold-dipped agave medallion, and the MGM lion emblem - the resort group's longtime visual mark - rendered in ornate gold detail. The bottle reads more banquet-room collectible than traditional tequila release, in keeping with its Vegas-exclusive provenance.
On the nose, it shows smooth cooked agave layered with caramel, citrus, vanilla, and gentle oak. The palate brings rich, rounded agave with caramel, soft vanilla, chocolate from the Ultra component, and oak from the Reposado component, and the finish carries a long, smooth close.
