Clase Azul 25th Anniversary is the brand's milestone Reposado release marking 25 years of Clase Azul Tequila (1997-2022). The 25th Anniversary Limited Edition is the first Clase Azul decanter ever produced in an all-cobalt-blue ceramic finish - a deliberate visual nod to the brand's signature color - with twenty-five hand-painted platinum brushstrokes wrapping the body, one for each year of the brand's history. Inside is a special Reposado expression created by Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco: 100% Highland Blue Weber agave, partially tahona-milled before fermentation, rested 8 months in dual first-use American whiskey casks, and bottled at 80 proof / 40% ABV.
Clase Azul Tequila is produced at Productos Finos de Agave (NOM 1416) in Jesus Maria, Los Altos de Jalisco - the Highland tequila region. Founded by Arturo Lomeli in 1997, Clase Azul is one of the most recognizable artisan tequila brands in the world, known as much for what's inside the bottle as for the bottle itself: each iconic hand-painted ceramic Clase Azul decanter is shaped, fired, and painted by hand by more than 100 artisans in the village of Santa Maria Canchesda, Mexico.
The decanter's feathered motif is drawn from dandelion seeds dispersing in the wind - the visual metaphor for Clase Azul's global expansion across its first quarter-century. Each of the 25 platinum brushstrokes is hand-applied in Santa Maria Canchesda by the same artisans who shape and paint every Clase Azul Pink Bottle, Dia de los Muertos, and Master Artisans release. The 25 Anniversary release is produced in extremely limited numbers as a collectible work of art.
On the nose, it shows cooked agave layered with vanilla, soft caramel, and oak. The palate brings smooth tahona-driven agave with creamy vanilla, light spice, and polished oak from the dual-cask aging, and the finish carries a long, refined close.
