Booker's Country Ham 6 Year is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon from James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, Kentucky. Released as Batch 2019-03 and bottled at 124.7 proof, this uncut, unfiltered Booker's release is part of the named-batch series Master Distiller Fred Noe oversees.
Master Distiller Fred Noe selected the batch from across three different rack-houses, aged 6 years, 4 months and 2 days. Fred Noe's father Booker inherited a love of country ham alongside his love for distilling. This release pays homage to Booker's passion for curing meats, his favorite being Country Ham.
Per Fred Noe's notes, on the nose, it shows sweet with subtle hints of vanilla mingled with brown sugar notes. The palate brings sweet at first, deep and complex, vanilla, nuts and oak, robust vanilla and caramel, slightly smoky, and the finish carries long, smooth, warms the palate. The pour shows Booker's darkest, deepest amber and henna color.
A 2019 Booker's release, this named batch is closely tracked by collectors building a complete Booker's run. Bottled at full barrel strength with no chill filtration, it rewards a few drops of water and drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
