Fortaleza Reposado is a Reposado Tequila from Destileria La Fortaleza in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico. The core Reposado expression is rested in American oak barrels and bottled at 80 proof, additive-free.

Fortaleza traces back to 1873 and Don Cenobio Sauza, the founder of the modern tequila industry. Today the distillery operates under his great-great-grandson Guillermo Erickson Sauza out of NOM 1493 in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, using the same traditional methods that defined tequila before industrialization: 100 percent estate Blue Weber agave grown on the family's hillside ranches, brick-oven slow cooking, tahona stone-wheel extraction, open-air wooden vat fermentation, and double distillation in small copper pot stills. The bottles themselves are hand-blown in Mexico.

Fortaleza releases this expression in numbered lots rather than as a single fixed-recipe SKU. Aging time, exact proof, and tasting profile vary lot to lot - some lots run longer in oak, some shorter, and each carries its own subtle expression of the season and barrel selection. The lot number is printed on every bottle. Expect the Sauza house style throughout the range: cooked agave at the core, with American oak adding caramel, vanilla, and baking spice; the lighter lots stay closer to the Blanco, while the longer-rested lots show deeper dried fruit and tannin.

It drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
